Ashley Womble — Journalist, Author & Speaker
Journalist · Author · Speaker

Mental health insider. With the lived experience to prove it.

I've spent 15 years reporting on the mental health system — as a journalist, a policy advocate, and a nonprofit founder. And I've spent my whole life living inside it as a caregiver, a patient, and a sister. That combination is rare. It shows up on every page.

Built Crisis Text Line's national press strategy — 500+ stories placed in one year
About

My brother has schizophrenia. My mother had depression she couldn't name. I grew up in rural Texas learning that what happened inside our house stayed there — and that the silence nearly cost us everything.

I've spent my career breaking that silence at scale. I helped build Crisis Text Line's public narrative — placing 500+ national news stories in a single year — and played a central role in launching the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline on Mother's Day 2022.

In 2022, I founded Therapy Without Borders, a nonprofit working to tear down the state-by-state licensing and telehealth barriers keeping millions of people from getting mental health care.

In progress · Memoir

All of it traces back to one house in rural Texas and one brother I couldn't save. I'm writing the memoir now.

Speaking & Appearances

The talk your audience didn't know it needed.

I speak at conferences, corporate events, and academic institutions — bringing a journalist's rigor and a caregiver's honesty to conversations that usually stay abstract.
